Responsibilities

The EMT/Paramedic is directly accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department. The duties include, but are not limited to:

+ responsible for the assessment and basic management of medical, trauma and environmental emergencies under the supervision of the ED RN, Charge RN or Physician

+ assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice

+ communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient's clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology

+ able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment

+ assists in maintenance of a safe environment

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

+ current and valid paramedic license issued by the state of Texas

+ High School Diploma or equivalent, or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014

+ current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current

+ Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) within 6 months of hire and maintain current

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

+ ACLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current

+ PALS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
