**Responsibilities**

Ascension St. Vincent's Birmingham is looking for a Nurse Practitioner for our GI Hospitalist Group.

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension St. Vincent's to provide medical services to patients.

**Responsibilities:**

+ Full time hours weekly to support the Physicians as needed

+ Handles all Consults, ER Consults during the day and works closely with GI hospitalist to provide medical care.

+ Covers nighttime call as first call.

+ Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.

+ Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.

+ Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.

+ Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.

+ Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.

**Requirements**

**Licensure/Certification/Registration:**

+ BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.

+ Advanced Life Support certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) may be accepted in lieu of BLS Provider required.

+ Certified Advanced Practice Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

+ Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred.

**Education:**

+ Master's degree of Nursing required.
