Reporting to the GLE Operations Manager, the Electronics Technician will be responsible for assisting with the procurement, construction, installation, maintenance and documentation of prototype electronics and electrical equipment in support of various GLE projects
NOTE: This role is subject to the incumbent’s ability to hold an NRC/DOE “Q” security clearance as well as their ongoing ability to maintain nuclear site access
Roles and Responsibilities:
Controls and Instrumentation:
• Assist with specification and procurement of process controls, instrumentation, and electronic equipment
• Installation and commissioning of diagnostics and process control systems.
• Evaluate and tune control systems and document performance.
• Troubleshoot and maintain electrical and electronic equipment
Electrical Services:
• Assemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electrical wiring and equipment.
• Contribute to the development of electrical and electronic subsystems.
• Install and maintain low voltage electrical distribution systems and related services (transformers, converters, power supplies, etc.).
• Populate and wire control cabinets and electrical panels.
• Install and connect control cabinets and process equipment, including sensors, actuators, and field wiring.
• Produce and maintain documentation of electrical and electronic equipment, systems, and designs
General:
• Provide technical assistance to engineering and operations staff as required.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workspace for use by all staff, including workshop tools and measurement equipment.
• Undertake any other responsibilities consistent with skills, qualifications and experience
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS):
• Immediately report any safety or environmental incidents, unsafe acts or conditions, and near misses to the company’s management.
• Adhere to the Company’s EHS policies, procedures and regulatory requirements relating to the work being undertaken to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.
• Contribute to the GLE safety culture by proactively applying EHS principles and best practices to the planning, execution, and conclusion of all activities
Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
• Active DOE/NRC Q-clearance or equivalent.
• Relevant associate degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience, or 5 years’ experience in a relevant technical field
• Hands-on experience in industrial power, diagnostics, and control application preferred.
• Experience working in classified and/or highly regulated environments strongly preferred.
• Ability to understand and interpret electrical schematic drawings and circuit/wiring diagrams.
• Experience in making appropriate electrical connections, including soldering.
• Experience operating hand and power tools and electrical/fault-testing equipment.
• Basic knowledge of industrial controls communication protocols
• Proficient in the basic use of Microsoft Office software
Performance Measures:
• Allocated projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Ongoing compliance with site EHS and Security protocols.
