That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.About the teamThe Efficiency team at Stripe manages the tooling and observability services to make Stripe infrastructure efficient by effectively managing our cloud costs through cost observability, capacity planning, cost-aware architecture, targeted cost savings initiatives, and leveraging cloud cost optimization tools.  As a manager working with teams across Stripe, you will play a key leadership role in enabling Stripe’s infrastructure to power all of our products, globally, and at scale. Your solutions will allow our business to scale and achieve a best in class price/performance ratio. Your work will directly impact the bottom line of our business by reducing our cost per transaction.What you’ll doYou will support a team of engineers focused on building the  tooling and observability for all of Stripe engineering to effectively and efficiency leverage our cloud resources. In addition to helping define the roadmap for the next 3-5 years, you will be interacting with many other managers and their teams at Stripe, who rely on the Efficiency team to deliver efficient and scalable services to our customers. You will work with both the finance and engineering organization (infrastructure & product) to define, measure and monitor the cost efficiency of all Stripe services in support of our business. You will also serve as the technical liaison with our cloud provider for all aspects regarding cloud efficiency.ResponsibilitiesDrive the roadmap and priorities for the team, and work with other engineering teams across the company.Support the team in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability.Be opinionated in building the team's technical vision and play a primary role in technical decision making.Hire and develop talent on the team.Who you areWe’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.Minimum requirements5+ years of software development experience5+ years of engineering management experienceExperience building strong technical teams that balance operational excellence, collaboration and user needsExperience working in highly cross-functional organizationsProven track record of building large scale, complex distributed systems with open source tools; identifying shortcomings and optimization opportunities; and making data driven cost performance tradeoffs to influence design decisionsPreferred qualificationsExperience in managing development team in AWS/Azure/OCI/GCPExperience managing remote and distributed teamsExperience working closely across geographiesFamiliarity with managing a large fleet of Linux servers, Hadoop clusters, Kubernetes clusters, databases, and control planesExperience with managing large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines (Spark, Airflow, Flink, Kafka)Experience with performance optimization and cloud capacity planningExperience in building consumer/customer facing products
