Your Specific Responsibilities:
  • This public health nursing work is an advanced public health nursing position providing case finding and management.
  • Employee in this position performs independent professional public health nursing duties in a generalized public health nursing program, to foster and preserve good community health.
  • Participates in all primary care services in the clinical setting including but not limited to improved pregnancy outcome, family planning, communicable and chronic disease. Interviews, counsels, and teaches client and/or parents according to assessed needs and program requirements.
  • Performs the indicated nursing duties and related activities according to procedures. Assists the physician, gives prescribed medications, and performs follow-up and compliance.
  • Utilizes the EHR accurately and completely.
  • Participates in immunization outreaches as needed and assists with communicable disease control. Works independently in all clinic settings and utilizes community resources in the process of referring clients to the appropriate agency.
  • Participates in continuing education, in-service, staff meetings and new employee orientation.
  • Completes and submits required documentation of time management (EARS, time sheets and travel logs) within FDOH mandated time frames.
  • Performs all other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

CPR/AED, performs professional public health nursing duties, applies nursing principles and techniques in the treatment of clients including but not limited to Maternity, Family Planning, and immunization clinic.

Qualifications:

Minimum -
  • Florida or multistate Registered Nursing license.
  • Experience in Public Health nursing
  • Florida Department of Health is required to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an
    emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs shelter or performing other emergency duties
    including but not limited to, response to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster man-made or natural.

Preferred -
  • Nursing experience in Immunizations, Women's Health, and Family Planning.
