Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The Integrative Program for Biological & Genome Sciences (iBGS) operates at the interface between the UNC-CH School of Medicine and the College of Arts & Sciences to support research that works towards a mechanistic understanding of basic biological processes, thereby generating discoveries that fuel the translational research pipeline. iBGS is uniquely well situated to support and promote the integration of fundamental new discoveries with etiological and therapeutic efforts by clinician-scientists to combat human disease.

Position Summary

This position will provide technical and organizational support for research projects of Dr. Frank Conlon's. The employee will conduct bioinformatics on the analysis of RNAseq, ChlPseq and ATACseq datasets. The Research Technician will also conduct essential genotyping analysis of novel mouse lines, update IACUC and DCM reports and conduct scheduled meetings. The research technician will work as part of a team containing postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and other researchers, including undergraduate students. In certain situations the research technician will train these individuals in established protocols.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Must have experience in mouse husbandry, histology, embryonic mouse anatomy, immune-histochemistry, and cell fate mapping.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Proven familiarity with confocal imaging.
