Job Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under supervision, is responsible for supervising, coordinating and executing the management of multiple departmental projects or a large-scale and complex project focused on improvement or development of health care setting and/or System-wide initiatives in support of its strategic goals. Supports collaborative development with various business teams and drives process improvements for the successful management of the overall project lifecycle, supporting provision of all deliverables from inception to completion.

Under general supervision coordinates and implements all aspects of clinical management projects and programs to ensure that organizational goals of time, cost, and quality standards are met.

GENERAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
  • Organizes, plans, executes, reports and evaluates clinical project and program goals and objectives in various clinical areas.
  • Coordinates clinical research projects and provides programmatic, clinical and project management oversight for all aspects of trials and projects.
  • Oversees the collection, compilation, and analysis of clinical program activity data to evaluate clinical performance and competence; develops and designs action plans to support clinical performance and competency.
  • Provides technical guidance in the development of administrative and operational processes, templates, procedures/protocols and other core documents.
  • Collaborates with clinical department directors, nurse managers, clinical experts, physicians, and other key staff in overall project evaluation. Identifies key benchmarks for use in evaluation.
  • Initiates and directs planning related to project development including the identification of project objectives, expected outcomes, resource requirements and evaluation strategies.
  • Works with hospital staff to identify areas of program need, using data and input including risk management data, quality and safety indicators, root causes, and infection, and needs assessment surveys in order to inform course priority and development.
  • Collaborates to develop IMSAL related policies and procedures around data that are in compliance with healthcare ethics, laws and regulations.
  • Identifies and assesses business opportunities and areas for growth.
  • Works with team as a facilitator of experiences, based on needs of NYC Health + Hospitals/IMSAL.
  • Role models leadership behaviors that demonstrate specific professional values and commitment to advanced practice.
  • Ensures that reliable data are being reported in patient care services information systems through the use of validation and inter-rater reliability testing on a frequency as appropriate for the assigned project.
  • Facilitates a safe practice environment for interdisciplinary team members use of technology.
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with other members of the IMSAL team for effective execution of data analysis.
  • Participates in the production and distribution of communications related to data through active internal networking, clinical liaison role, newsletters, announcements and other technology-based mechanisms to health professionals.
  • Collaborates to engage in scholarly activity to share with the larger community the findings and impact of educational and quality improvement interventions
  • Analyzes and presents data collected during simulation activities for the purposes of reporting to various agencies, councils, etc. (Simulation Center Annual Report, MMRP Reports to Department of Health, etc.)
  • All other assignments, as needed

Minimum Qualifications
1. Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State, plus (2) or (3) below.
2. A Masters Degree in Nursing Administration, Education or an equivalent field and a minimum of six years of satisfactory nursing experience, of which four years shall have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity; or,
3. A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and seven years of satisfactory nursing experience, five years of which shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity; or,
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.

Department Preferences

  • At least 3 years of progressive clinical/informatics experience
  • Licensed Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with health care members providing care for highly complex patients
  • Willingness to learn and participate in the delivery of clinical education
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization's personnel.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities and make critical decisions.

KNOWLEDGEABLE IN:
  • Program Management
  • Knowledge and skills in quality improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications relevant to EPIC.
  • Computer literacy in PC-based software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Outstanding analytical, interpretive, problem solving, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
