Description

We seek applicants for a full-time position in Project RISE, the College's TRIO Student Support Services program federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Project RISE provides opportunities for a diverse target population of students who are low-income, first-generation college students, and/or have a disability.

The Assistant Director will manage holistic programming and services including academic, personal, career, and transfer counseling in support of program goals of retention, graduation, and transfer of students served by TRIO.Programming is designed to motivate and support students to succeed in college through peer mentoring, workshops, personalized progress monitoring, cultural events, and more.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Manage active recruitment efforts such as classroom visits and campus events
* Serve as the primary resource for first-year students served by TRIO. Interview applicants, build rapport with accepted students, and meet with students individually to address academic, personal, and career needs
* Manage online communications including but not limited to the website, Facebook page, social media accounts, group emails, and surveys
* Participate in program design, implementation, evaluation, and establishment of policies and procedures

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, college student personnel, educational administration, or related field
* Work experience in a diverse educational opportunity program or familiarity with challenges faced by the TRIO target population of students
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with ability to establish rapport with students

Desired Qualifications

* Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, college student personnel, educational administration, or related field
* Two or more years of experience in TRIO/educational opportunity programs, grant programs, and/or higher education (especially at the community college level)
* Experience with student programming and/or counseling
* Knowledge of College and community resources
* Experience or familiarity with first-year instruction or programming for college students
* Background similar to those of students served by TRIO
* Proven commitment to and understanding of the special needs of students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds
