The PA/NP will be responsible for the evaluation and nonoperative management of patients with musculoskeletal complaints and acute/chronic conditions as well as functioning as a surgical assistant.

PA/NP Duties:

Essential Job Functions:
  • Maintain an independent schedule and evaluate patients independently as well as under the direction of the supervising physician.
  • Assist physician in examining and diagnosing musculoskeletal and joint problems.
  • Assist in surgery and collaborate with the physician and surgical team to provide support during the procedure.
  • Order and interpret test results and recommend treatment of patients.
  • Administer injections as needed when indicated.
  • Provide postoperative patient care.
  • Write prescriptions and medical orders.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records of patients' assessments, surgical procedures, and post-operative care.
  • Participate in Division research and educational activities.
  • Interact and work with orthopedic surgery residents and division fellows.
  • Additional duties as assigned to meet office needs.
  • Hospital rounding as needed

Requirements:
  • Must have an active RI PA license or be eligible for a license as a PA/NP in RI.
  • 2 years+ experience as an orthopedic PA/NP or a new PA/NP graduate with orthopedic experience.
  • Interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills to deal effectively with staff, patients, and physicians in a knowledgeable, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records.
  • Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary.
