Job Description

Full time faculty positions begin in August 2024 with a 30-credit hour (170-day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually.

CMC is seeking an experienced EMS professional and dynamic educator to be part of an instructional team in the Paramedic Program. Teaching duties may include all diadatic, skill lab, preclinical, and clinical rotation courses within the Paramedic curriculum. The successful candidate will work to strengthen partnerships with local employers such as hospitals, health care agencies, as well as the local ski areas. Instructional faculty in this discipline also facilitate recruiting, training, and scheduling of EMT Skills Assistant staff and Adjunct faculty, maintain and purchase of supplies, coordinate testing and state required documentation, assist in the collection of student records for clinical experiences, and identify local opportunities for clinical partnerships in conjunction with the Lead Faculty and administrative support staff.

Reporting to the school dean, or designee, this faculty teaching position will work closely with a lead paramedic faculty member, and program administration, to meet all accreditation and program standards. The faculty member will also work closely with campus administrators who help create a dynamic learning environment, and provide student supports services. Faculty instructional duties include completing proper documentation and adhering to reporting standards for the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP), Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), and State of Colorado Dept of Public Health and environment (CDPHE). Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teaching course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities.

Program instruction includes additional coordination, travel, and record management such as: Planning for classroom, laboratory and clinical learning experiences; assisting in confirmation of written agreements between the administration of the program and outside providers of clinical resources; providing for the safekeeping of of permanent records and reports essential to the operation of the program within established systems; coordinating with clinical partners to meet needs for on-site direct supervision; and collecting relevant documentation for students entering clinical settings, which may include immunization records, background check reports, and partnership orientation.

CMC Faculty are expected to engage in service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student advising, recruiting and retention.

Salary range: $74,591.59 - $90,852.49 annual salary depending upon a combination of education and experience. Additional teaching opportunities may be available and are compensated at the adjunct faculty rates during contract overload review periods. Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:

Paramedic Instructors (as per CAAHEP) should have a minimum of an Associate's degree, have appropriate medical or allied health education, training, and experience, be knowledgeable about methods of instruction, testing and evaluation of students, have field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care, have academic training and preparation related to emergency medical services at least equivalent to that of a paramedic, and be knowledgeable about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards, and about evidenced-informed clinical practice. Bachelor's Degree and 4,000 hours of verified, paid EMS work experience in the past five years or Master's degree preferred. Degree and previous teaching/training in directly related field preferred.

Nationally Registered EMT - Paramedic or State of Colorado EMT - Paramedic Certified required. AHA BLS Instructor preferred. Experience with wilderness medicine or remote EMS care is a plus. Successful completion of an EMS Instructor Course with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Division of EMS Administration or National Association of EMS Educators (or completion of this course within the provisional period of the position) required.
