Columbia Global aligns some of the University’s key global initiatives, including the Columbia Global Centers, Columbia World Projects, and the Institute for Ideas and Imagination. Columbia Global seeks a Director of Global Programming who will advance the global and country-specific programs within the Columbia Global Centers. The incumbent will play an active role, with CG leadership, to develop a program plan as well as monitor its implementation and execution. The Director will oversee aspects of program design and implementation, and ensure quality control of programs and written products on behalf of the CG portfolio. The Director will serve as a member of the management team with primary responsibility for initiating and managing program development and implementation, on a wide range of intellectual, scholarly, research, educational, student engagement and alumni programs throughout the global center platform. Critical to successful program planning is establishing close working relationships with the Global Center Directors and their senior programming staff.ResponsibilitiesOversee program planning and architecture, including managing complex program designs, varied stakeholder interests, and priorities. Develop and package program products such as case studies, program blueprints and impact briefs for use in engaging University faculty and leadership as well as external partnersEnsure the effective and efficient execution of established program work plans across the Global Center portfolio, including planned actions, outcomes, and deadlines. Monitor progress, troubleshoot problems and barriers and make recommendations to leadership for necessary adjustments to ensure successful, quality outcomes.Implement a system and process for program design, management, quality improvement, reporting, start-up and close-out across all Global Centers.Facilitate collaboration across Global Centers, other CG programs and University partners (faculty, departments, centers and schools) to identify, design and implement programmatic activities and priorities, inform program innovations, assess fund development potential including the development of program concepts and content for proposals, ensuring alignment with broader CG strategies and approaches, and expand and deepen programming within and across the Global Centers.Assist with the planning, management and submission of grant applications as well as post-award grant administration.Support revenue-generating activities, such as fund and grant development, and executive education initiativesScope, manage, and create new campus and globally-focused strategic initiatives and manage ongoing special projects for the Global Centers portfolio.Collaborating with CG’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning unit, develop program specific and cross-program M&E frameworks and plans that allow for the identification of drivers of program performance and impact, creation and management of KPIs, identification of key trends and gaps, and reporting of such data.Partner with CG Communications team to produce a strategic communications plan and collaterals, such as website content, newsletters, and graphics.Work with CG’s Operations team to drive the processes to identify, codify and digitize documents and ensure application to programs, support knowledge management and mapping of all Global Center program activities, and use relevant technology to support program operations.Contribute to organization of Global Center events, such as hosting strategic visitors, center director activity in NY, Global Center related events, workshop and development opportunities.Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.Seven to nine years of related experience developing programs and managing complex projects, in a higher education environment, preferably Columbia University.Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated leadership and management skills to foster a cohesive team and promote a positive work environment.
