Overview The Software Architect will be joining the development team that supports complex enterprise software systems for the federal government. You will be responsible for enabling conversion of functional requirements into technical requirements that allow the development team to build new capabilities and improve existing functionality. The ideal candidate has strong technical leadership skills and the ability to architect complex applications. We are looking for a resourceful, innovative thinker who can understand our business objectives and constraints, identify areas of improvement, and provide creative solutions. This position will be filled to work hybrid (at least 3 days/week onsite) in Tacoma, WA. * Provide architectural and "big picture" oversight for development of new or enhanced components
* Develop an advanced understanding of complex business requirements and how both our current technology can be leveraged and proposed future technology selected to meet those needs
* Craft database architectural strategies at the modeling, design, and implementation stages of the development process
* Lead technical discussions around Development, Data, Security, Scalability, etc. concepts and ensure best practices are implemented
* Manage data structures at the design phase of both SQL and non-SQL database management
* Assist in code review process and plan platform optimization efforts with development and product team members
* Provide feedback to customer to influence designs based on software considerations
* Provide technical and organizational leadership to research, analyze and provide recommended technology solutions to meet customer challenges and to promote the delivery of quality services
* Evaluate hardware and software platforms, as well as integration touch points with external systems
* Evaluate system alternatives, assess risks and costs, and provide recommendations for system performance verification

* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to effectively develop technical diagrams to communicate and document complex technical processes or models.
* Ability to estimate software timelines and present them to internal leadership and customers
* Expertise with cloud technologies and big data concepts
* Demonstrated ability to create formal design processes using industry best practices in data modernization and security
* Strong application design skills combined with strong data and security architecture skills
* Proficiency in Agile/SCRUM methodologies and experience with breaking down larger scope items into work packages
* Experience in problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including creating and troubleshooting APIs and complex data structures/systems
* Outstanding listening skills, ability to connect with people in diverse roles
* Ability to mentor junior staff and work collaboratively with stakeholders and technical leadership
* U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Security Clearance required
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline
* Salary: $125,000 - $155,000/Year, DOE What would be nice for you to have: * Experience with our current technologies: jQuery, Angular, Rest API, Web Services, SQL, Bootstrap, CA, ASP.NET, Webforms
* Experience creating and maintaining software requirements and working with major relational databases (SQL Server, etc.) * Experience with common vulnerability scanning and reporting tools (e.g. Burp Scanner, Fortify)
* Experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
* Strong working knowledge and experience in deploying, configuring, and managing applications and services on AWS or similar
* Kubernetes experience
* Ability to analyze, design, and optimize business processes
