Duties * Serves as a senior inspector, field leader and inspector-in-charge, for the TACOM Command's Inspector General Program. * Review previous inspection or audit reports, applicable rules, regulations, procedures and policy statements, mission and organizational materials concerning functions to be inspected and related areas. * Plan and carry out systemic and general inspections of Command activities, Program, Project Manager organizations, government contractors, and maintenance of government facilities and property. * Conduct investigations and inquiries covering any phase of Command operations on delegation of authority of Command or Chief of Staff. * Assess areas of Command group, higher echelon, general policy or mission interest, regulatory requirements and follow-up for previous inspections and investigations to identify areas most useful for meeting objectives of the IG mission. * Prepare an investigation or inquiry plan after analysis of the Commander's directive, outlining sources of information, applicable regulations, and techniques for eliciting the most useful information. * Assure the Commander is made aware of potential or actual problem areas affecting Command morale and efficiency. * Process Inspector General Action requests, in accordance with mission and regulatory requirements of the IG program. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. * Must be able to obtain and maintain Inspector General Credentials through successful completion of The Inspector General School (TIGS) located in Fort Belvoir, VA. * Must successfully graduate from TIGS's basic course and any other required IG qualification training venues. * Must practice IG attributes as mandatory requirements for continued employment as an Army IG. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02 or GS-11 equivalent).
