Duties * Serve as a Supervisory Staff Administrator for an Army Reserve Brigade, Group, or comparable size element. * Exercise supervision over the daily activities of a full time staff. * Formulate plans and programs to insure consistent implementation of the Commander's objectives. * Provide advice to the Commander and staff on a variety of programs associated with carrying out the organization's mission. * Conduct analysis of programs and activities through the review of reports. * Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates and set and adjust short term priorities. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing operations and programs for a unit in the areas of personnel and pay management, training, administration, supply, maintenance operations, information management, resource management, recruitment, inspections and investigations, public relations, and/or security; analyzing and providing guidance on directives, policies, or instructions from higher headquarters; maintaining oversight of the overall readiness status of subordinate units; and exercising supervision over the daily activities of a full time staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
