Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Operations Lead to oversee the operational aspects of our shared platform environment. As the Operations Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, stability, and observability of our shared platform. Your leadership and expertise will be instrumental in navigating the complex challenges inherent in a shared environment, fostering collaboration among diverse teams, and establishing robust operational practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain operational processes, procedures, and standards for the shared platform environment, with a focus on database design, performance tuning, data governance, and security best practices.
  2. Coordinate and facilitate cross-functional collaboration among teams involved in the shared platform, including data engineers, developers, database administrators, and business stakeholders.
  3. Establish and enforce governance processes for change management, dependency management, versioning, and concurrent data access within the shared platform.
  4. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the shared platform's reliability, performance, stability, and observability, and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
  5. Identify and address operational risks, bottlenecks, and issues, working closely with technical teams to implement solutions and mitigate potential impacts.
  6. Manage resource allocation and capacity planning for the shared platform, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and addressing resource contention challenges.
  7. Collaborate with data governance teams to ensure compliance with data governance policies, data integrity, and security standards.
  8. Facilitate regular operational review meetings with stakeholders, communicating updates, addressing concerns, and gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
  9. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including operational procedures, run books, and knowledge base articles.
  10. Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, trends, and emerging technologies related to shared platform operations, data management, and observability.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  2. 15+ years of experience in operations management, preferably in a shared platform or data management environment.
  3. Strong understanding of database design, performance tuning, data governance, and security best practices.
  4. Experience with monitoring and observability tools, such as New Relic, Splunk, Graphana, Dynatrace.
  5. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools.
  6. Ability to work in a cross-functional and matrix environment, coordinating with multiple teams and stakeholders.
  7. Knowledge of project management methodologies and change management processes.
  8. Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and containerization technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  9. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  10. Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
