Summary You will serve as a Police Officer in the DEPARTMENT OF NAVY to include work sites of Naval Support Facility Dahlgren, Naval Support Facility Indian Head, Naval Support Facility Patuxent River, and Naval Support Activity Washington Navy Yard. Duties * You will respond to and investigate complaints while interpreting and enforcing state and federal laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), DoD and Navy regulations, and installation directives, rules and regulations. * You will respond to alarms, emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service while on duty. * You will operate electronic tactical police communications equipment, including mobile data terminalsto receive dispatches, respond to calls and complete official reports. * You will perform traffic law enforcement using specialized equipment such as radar, breathalyzer. * You will set up and conduct checkpoints/roadblocks at various locations throughout the installation insupport of Random Anti-terrorism Measures (RAMS) and to reduce criminal activity and ensuremotor vehicle safety. * You will prepare detailed reports, forms, and citations concerning all incidents and action taken. * You will serve as a primary investigator of offenses committed by or against military and civilian personnel, or against government and private property located on Navy installations. * You will ensure individuals requesting access to the installation have proper identification. * You will enforce force protection standards and participates in anti-terrorism events and training exercises. * You will perform other duties as assigned. You must submit DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms before appointment. * You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. * You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. * Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing. * This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems. * This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition. * Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326. * Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. * This is a bargaining unit position. Must be able to successfully pass the Navy Physical Agility Test, and must successfully complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Course at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) * You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. * You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency. * Employee is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include additional required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to applicable grooming standards for the installation. * Must be able to successfully complete the mandated 40-hour Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) to be qualified to Operate motor vehicles. * Must be CPR certified and utilize a portable heart defibrillator where available. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Performing aspects of law enforcement, antiterrorism, and physical security functions at military installations requiring use and deployment of specialized techniques, equipment, knowledge or training; 2) documenting law enforcement and security events and issuing citations; and 3) conducting internal and/or external investigations, inquiries or audits related to security matters where neglect, action, or inaction could cause an adverse effect on the installation's security. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Apprehending personnel by the use of force or police equipment; 2) Preparing police reports concerning incidents and actions taken; and 3) Responding to emergency calls for service while adhering to state and federal laws.
