ENGINEER/SCIENTIST with Security Clearance

Summary You will serve as an Engineer or Scientist in the Weapon Systems Division of the Special Warfare & Expeditionary Systems Department of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Demonstration Project. The ND-05 pay band encompasses the GS-14/15. Duties * You will serve as the Division's Chief Researcher, providing Division technical leadership and guidance for Advanced Mounted Weapon Systems (AMWS). * You will research and develop advanced solutions related to AMWS, instilling systems engineering, and critical technology elements requiredto enable Weapon Systems technology enhancement. * You will aide in competency development with a focus on improving skillsets to more effectively and efficiently execute Research and Development workload. * You will lead task management efforts for high risk, rapid turn RDTE projects. * You will provide independent mentoring and assist fellow engineers and technicians. * You will support Division skills and technical capability health assessments, identification and development of training plans, and mentoring. * You will formulate, propose, gain funding for, and execute RDTE and engineering tasking from a myriad of Science and Technology programmatic opportunities related to Weapon Systems. * You will participate in Weapon Systems Division related workload assessment and strategic planning efforts, ensuring robust AMWS workload in alignment with Command and Department objectives. * You will develop strategic partnerships with government, industry, academia and NATO partners to expand the AMWS technical ecosystem. * You will continually improve the knowledge of Special Warfare and Expeditionary Systems, Weapon Systems, and future enabling technologies. * You will synthesize that knowledge into technical publications and communications that improve a broader technical community understanding of Small Arms Weapons and Weapon Systems technologies Requirements Conditions of Employment * Must be a US Citizen. * Must be determined suitable for federal employment. * Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. * New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
