Duties * You will use blueprints to determine any modifications needed in the plumbing system (e.g., openings, slant, level of water, gas lines). * You will inspect and test systems and equipment for correct operation, flow, drainage, and sanitary conditions. * You will lay out the installation and modification of systems, level of gas and water lines, and the location or arrangement of water closets, sinks, or fire sprinkler equipment. * You will align pipes, valves, fittings, joints, braces, and supports to control movement, vibration, expansion, and contraction. Physical Effort : The work involves making repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the parts of systems worked on may be in hard-to-reach places. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Maybe required to lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up 40 pounds. Working Conditions : The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. May be required to make repairs and installations outside in bad weather. May occasionally make repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. May occasional be exposed to the possibility of broken bones and/or scrapes, burns, and infections. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
