Duties As a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST at the GS-0080-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: * Implementing and administering the provision of Executive Order 13526, ISOO Directives, and DOD 5200.01M. * Coordinates the development of plans, policies, and directives with OSD, other defense agencies, and the Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO) as appropriate. * Develops and maintains internal security programs for classified document control, classification marking review, security incidents, and unauthorized disclosures. * Participates fully in the planning, directing and operation of all phases of the Joint Staff Information Security Program. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the following areas relating to the JS Information Security Program: Classification Management; Safeguarding; Transmission and Transportation; Security Education and Training; and Security Incidents involving Classified Information. * Assist in the development of Joint Staff security classification guides and provide policy guidance to the Combatant Commands. * Responsible for the management of security incidents. Conduct oversight and quality review for inquiry, ensuring thoroughness, impartiality, and appropriateness of any recommended actions. Incumbent may be required to conduct in inquiry into security incidents and provide or brief adjudicated reports to senior leadership. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
