We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer on one of our premier classified programs. As the Principal Systems Engineer, you will be a member of an O&M Program performing development efforts via various ECPs. The Principal Systems Engineer will provide technical direction and clarification of requirements to the development team, support definition of operational concepts and interface definitions, interact closely with the prime and customer, and with the program office through internal and external meetings.

What You Will Do

  • Supporting the implementation of the Scrum activities.

  • Participating in prime/customer meetings including technical exchange and working group meetings.

  • Developing and maintaining Requirements, Use Cases and Algorithm Description Documents

  • Interfacing with program stakeholders to report status and issues

  • Support internal program activities such as the Risk & Opportunity Board, ERB/CCB and impact assessments.

  • Maintaining relationships and partnerships with the prime, customer, stakeholders, peers.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 8+ years of prior relevant experience

  • Active Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain Special Access. "Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance."

  • Experience with Ground Systems development, IRAD or Operations and familiarity with the software development life cycle using Agile concepts

  • Experience in one or more of the following system engineering areas: architecture development, operations concept development, functional analysis, interface definition, or verification & validation

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Knowledge of Spacecraft Dynamics, including Orbital Dynamics and Attitude Control

  • Experience with Matlab and Satellite Toolkit (STK) as well as experience using Agile Development software (e.g. JIRA, CONFLUENCE, etc.)

  • Experience in Ground Systems Operations and Maintenance support

  • Experience with requirements stakeholders using DOORS

  • Demonstrated self-starter; proactive in determining goals and targets and pursuing the necessary course of action and ability to quickly come up to speed on new concepts and skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship with all levels of the organization and with the prime and customer and demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
