  • Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for public works projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Bid Preparation: Develop competitive bid proposals based on thorough analysis of project specifications, drawings, and scope of work.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Relations: Solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor bids, negotiating pricing and terms to secure cost-effective agreements.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and quantify project risks and uncertainties, incorporating contingency plans into cost estimates as needed.
  • Value Engineering: Collaborate with project teams to propose value engineering alternatives that optimize project costs without compromising quality or functionality.
  • Compliance: Ensure all estimates and bids comply with regulatory requirements, local codes, and client specifications for public works projects.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized and detailed records of estimates, bids, and related documentation throughout the bidding process.
  • Client Interaction: Support business development efforts by participating in client meetings, presentations, and negotiations as needed.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience: Proven experience as an Estimator specializing in public works projects, with a solid understanding of bidding processes, contract documents, and construction methodologies.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, WinEst, Timberline) and MS Office Suite, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse stakeholders including clients, engineers, and project teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex project requirements and develop accurate cost estimates.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Team Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve common goals and deliver successful bids.
