Mat-Su Surgical Associates is a growing surgical practice in Palmer, AK. We take care of patients needing general & endocrine surgical care with the highest level of integrity. We are looking for a dedicated, skilled, and professional medical assistant with excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced medical office. This position includes performing both administrative and clinical duties, and collaborating with other staff members. Clinical Duties:

  • Gather clinical data and medical records from referring physicians
  • Review patient paperwork and ensure it is properly completed and accurate
  • Obtain current medication list with accurate dosages and frequencies
  • Greet and bring patients to exam rooms, get vitals and brief health history
  • Set up exam rooms properly for visits and procedures
  • Assist providers during in-office procedures
  • Prepare laboratory specimens for testing and transport according to lab protocol
  • Clean & Stock exam rooms with supplies and maintain medical instruments
  • Follow up on studies and pathology to ensure completion

Administrative Duties:

  • Answer telephone in a professional pleasant and courteous manner, handling caller requests accurately and promptly.
  • Transcribe accurate messages and relays to appropriate party.
  • Follow office policy when handling patient health care questions.
  • Schedule appointments and surgeries
  • Update and maintain patient electronic medical records
  • Other clerical duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Medical Assisting; or Medical Assisting Certificate; or
  • At least two years of physician office, documented medical assisting experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma (GED) with related experience.
  • Prefer knowledge of medical terminology, office procedures, and medication/pharmacology.
  • Professional and pleasant demeanor for patient care
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, prioritize, and address tasks accordingly and efficiently
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Licenses/Certificates

  • BLS Required.
