Are you a seasoned logistics professional with a strong blend of operational expertise and commercial acumen? We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Operations Director to join our Los Angeles-based team. As a leading international freight forwarder, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service and innovative solutions to our global clientele.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Oversee and manage a team of 20 operations professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- P&L Management: Take full ownership of a $30M USD P&L, driving profitability through efficient operations, cost control, and strategic decision-making.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure the smooth, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods across all modes of transport, adhering to industry regulations and standards.
- Commercial Acumen: Leverage your deep understanding of the market to identify growth opportunities, negotiate contracts, and drive revenue. Collaborate closely with sales teams to align operational capabilities with commercial goals.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Client Relations: Maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
- Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, including customs, import/export, and environmental standards.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute operational strategies that align with the company's growth objectives.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years in operations management within the freight forwarding or logistics industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of market dynamics, with experience in identifying growth opportunities and driving revenue through operational efficiency.
- Financial Acumen: Proven track record managing a significant P&L, with a focus on maximizing profitability.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of global freight forwarding and logistics, including compliance and regulatory requirements.
