Summit Human Capital is seeking a highly motivated Director of Product to support our client in the financial services industry. This position has an exciting opportunity to support improvement initiatives for the experience of the developers in their day-to-day work. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager working with software development teams or in a product-centric environment.
  • At least 6 months of experience in Developer Experience (DX) within an IT team.
  • Proven ability to develop scalable DX products and apply DX best practices.
  • Strong technical background with knowledge of emerging technologies, programming languages, CI/CD, development and testing practices, cloud services, and agile methodologies.
  • Expertise in development tools and best practices (e.g., Cloud/AWS, JIRA, linting tools, SCA, code analyzers)
  • Understanding of testing practices and tools and the ability to differentiate between various test types.
  • Capability to create consistent testing approaches that minimize the need for developers to relearn processes throughout the SDLC or across teams.
  • Proficiency with build tools and technologies (e.g., Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab, Maven)


Desired:

  • Hands-on experience in establishing and leading a Developer Experience (DX) team from the ground up.
  • Understanding of the product aspects related to Developer Experience (DX).


Responsibilities:


  • Understand and analyze developer needs, issues, and analytics to drive and refine the DX product strategy for improved developer productivity and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with senior management and engineering teams to define and align vision, strategy, and roadmaps.
  • Establish and track metrics to measure product success, oversee execution, and continually assess performance.
  • Demonstrate strong empathy for developers by shaping product direction based on their needs.
  • Lead complex strategic initiatives and address technical, operational, and policy issues effectively.
  • Stay curious and informed about new domains, industry innovations, and continually question existing practices.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly to set and manage expectations.
  • Evaluate both the developer experience layer and the underlying technology stack, determining if current systems are adequate or if a rebuild is necessary for new capabilities.
