Position Purpose :

  • The Project Manager for data transformation serves as the central point of coordination and delivery for our important new BI transformation, specifically involving technologies such as Looker, dbt and BigQuery.
  • The role involves driving the delivery of high-quality BI solutions, managing a cross-functional team, and ensuring the timely execution of projects while adhering to budget and scope constraints.


Primary Duties:

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of data models in the semantic layer to enable self service BI to our users.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the agreed quality standards.
  • Act as the main point of contact for project stakeholders, maintaining clear and regular communication about project progress, risks, and issues.
  • Liaise cross-functional teams, ensuring effective collaboration and that tasks are appropriately delegated and executed.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks and issues that could impact the delivery of projects. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain an ongoing review of project risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Foster a collaborative environment within the Data Platform Team and other associated departments.
  • Work in an Agile environment that focuses on collaboration and teamwork.
  • Facilitate communication and cooperation to ensure all team members are engaged and contributing to program success.
  • Ensure all deliverables adhere to quality standards and fulfill the requirements set out by the organization and clients.
  • Implement measures to monitor and enhance the quality of the solutions
  • Regularly report project progress, issues, and outcomes to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure transparency and visibility of the program's status and performance.


Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in program, project or delivery management roles, preferably in the field of digital solutions deployment.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prior experience in the environmental services industry or a related field would be an advantage.


Knowledge/Skiils

  • Strong project management skills, including expertise in Agile methodologies (including SCRUM) and project management tools (we are using GitLab).
  • Deep understanding of Business Intelligence, semantic layer (Looker), Data Warehouse (BigQuery) and more widely data management, and project management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is strongly preferred
  • Agile Scrum Master certification or similar is a plus
  • Certifications related to data management, digital solutions, or environmental sustainability would be beneficial
