Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and oversee the implementation of control systems for automated machinery including machine vision, robotics, advanced conveying and assembly systems.
  • Work with project team to ensure success of the project.
  • Must be familiar and knowledgeable of applicable industrial machinery standards such as OSHA, NFPA79, NEC, UL508A, ANSI, etc.
  • Implement (ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant) control reliable safety systems for safeguarding industrial automation systems based on the control system performance level requirement as derived from the risk assessment.
  • Architect, write, and debug PLC code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable for manufacturing applications. 
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC’s is strongly preferred. Beckhoff and Siemens experience a plus.
  • Generate aesthetically pleasing HMI screens (Ignition preferred) for complex machinery which provide robust feedback for troubleshooting.
  • Develop robot and/or vision applications to provide robust functionality while documenting these applications so they are easy to understand and can be easily modified by the end user.
  • Participate in startup and debug efforts to deploy automated processes and equipment into production.
  • Assist the project team in optimizing automation systems to maximize OEE performance.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately document, report, interpret and explain moderately complex information
  • Able to communicate and interface effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and dig in to solve complex problems.
  • For senior engineer applicants, additional requirements including but not limited to
  • Lead projects and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technical teams.
  • Manage and supervise electrical control panel builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing.
  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits.


Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s’ degree, or 8 years of applicable experience, in engineering, mechatronics, or computer science.

  • 2+ years of professional experience required.
  • Demonstrates a broad understanding and initiative of engineering principles, theories, and concepts as they relate to control system design and integration.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems commensurate with level of experience.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Motivated to succeed.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
