Responsibilities:

  • Lead stakeholders and collaborate across the organization to foster a culture that views information as a key enterprise asset.
  • Implement the information governance, data protection, and privacy program, including the creation of policies, procedures, and job aids.
  • Provide domain and technical expertise for the identification, implementation, and utilization of technologies to support program goals and classification standards.
  • Execute controls and conduct risk assessments (e.g., third-party risk, privacy, data protection).
  • Perform privacy impact assessments on data incidents and collaborate with relevant stakeholders, such as Security Services and Legal, to resolve the incidents.
  • Develop and implement strategies for managing information across the organization throughout its lifecycle.
  • Prepare for regulatory and internal audits/examinations and ensure timely remediation of any findings.
  • Introduce and enhance technology/tools for tracking projects, managing deliverables, and creating reports that support the program's objectives.
  • Support compliance assessments for information governance, data protection, and privacy, including the development of controls to measure risk.
  • Develop and maintain the organization’s Records Management System (RMS) program, ensuring proper retention and disposal of information across all media and formats, including the remediation of legacy information.
  • Participate in the Ovation program, ensuring that Information Governance Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) for retention, disposition, protection, and classification are addressed in new applications, platforms, and systems.
  • Support and develop training and awareness programs for information governance, data protection, and privacy.
  • Proactively identify trends in privacy and regulatory requirements, compliance enforcement, and make necessary program adjustments.
  • Work closely with other data teams within the group to ensure information governance aligns with data governance activities.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve data challenges with experience in information governance, data protection, and privacy policy.
  • Expertise and experience with enterprise systems, networks, databases, and other technical domains.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, customer orientation, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to listen and rapidly translate business needs into solutions, fostering effective working relationships.
  • Strong experience in developing capabilities for automatic data classification, data security, and data protection.
  • Familiarity with classification standards definitions and settings.
  • Proven experience in addressing Privacy requirements and handling personal information protection.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in creating metrics to enhance performance.
  • Adaptability to change in emerging environments and capability to work across multiple domains.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Project management and execution experience, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Experience in highly regulated environments with a solid understanding of audit and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in technology selection and implementation.
  • Expertise in drafting policies, procedures, and controls related to Information Security.
  • Strong understanding of information technology and risk management principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with demonstrated success in collaborating with internal business clients across various departments and levels of seniority.
  • Skilled in gathering, analyzing, and evaluating information, and preparing and presenting concise oral and written data analysis and reports.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in information management, information systems, law, computer science, or a BA/BS in another discipline with equivalent experience.
  • 10 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with systems supporting Compliance, Risk, Audit, Privacy, and Management, such as ServiceNow, Archer, etc.
  • Previous experience with information or data governance control activities in the financial services industry.
