The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of controls engineering principles, including controls networking, safety, electrical system troubleshooting, factory automation, and sensor technology, among others.

Responsibilities:

  • develop, and implement PLC-based control systems for industrial machinery and processes, ensuring adherence to project requirements and specifications.
  • and configure PLCs using industry-standard software (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric) to control equipment and processes efficiently and reliably.
  • with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and software developers, to integrate PLCs into larger automation systems.
  • control-networking activities, including the design and implementation of communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus) for seamless interaction between PLCs and other control devices.
  • control safety measures, such as emergency stop circuits, safety interlocks, and safety PLC programming, to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ANSI/RIA R15.06, ISO 13849).
  • electrical system troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve issues related to PLC hardware, wiring, sensors, actuators, and power distribution systems.
  • factory automation and control systems knowledge to optimize production processes, improve efficiency, and reduce downtime in manufacturing environments.
  • manufacturing analysis-led design techniques to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement innovative control solutions.
  • manufacturing prognostics algorithms and predictive maintenance strategies to anticipate equipment failures and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • controls system security measures, including access control, data encryption, and network segmentation, to protect PLC-based systems from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
  • sensor technology and measurement techniques to select appropriate sensors for monitoring process variables and feedback control.
  • technical expertise and guidance to project teams, suppliers, and customers on controls engineering best practices, standards, and emerging technologies.

Requirements:

  • degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • years of experience in controls engineering, with a focus on PLC-based control systems design, programming, and implementation.
  • in PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, function block diagram, structured text) and PLC hardware configuration.
  • knowledge of controls networking protocols and architectures, including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet.
  • with controls safety standards and regulations, such as ANSI/RIA R15.06, ISO 13849, and NFPA 79.
  • troubleshooting skills and experience with electrical system diagnostics and repair.
  • with factory automation technologies, including robotics, motion control, and HMI/SCADA systems.
  • of manufacturing analysis-led design methodologies, such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • with manufacturing prognostics techniques, predictive maintenance strategies, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles.
  • controls system security principles, cybersecurity standards, and industrial network security best practices.
  • in sensor technology, measurement instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
