Investment Strategist

The Investment Strategist II works directly with high-net-worth clients to create custom investment solutions that harness the power of the investment process. This role manages accounts for high-net-worth clients that typically have between $1-$5million in investable assets. In addition, the Investment Strategist II is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships through quality customer service, anticipating client needs, and communication to meet defined objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages assigned accounts for high net worth clients and supports the new business development efforts of the Wealth Advisor.
- Implements the investment policy within portfolios for which HTLF has investment responsibility and communicates this policy to high-net-worth clients.
- Increases Assets under Management (AUM) and revenue by conveying the HTLF investment process and policies to prospective clients to help the Wealth Advisor complete the sale of investment services.
- Assessing the financial goals, risk tolerance, and investment preferences of clients.
- Conducts thorough research on financial markets, asset classes, and investment opportunities to make informed decisions on assigned accounts.
- Analyzes existing investment portfolios and makes recommendations for asset allocation, diversification, and risk management.
- Develops and implements investment strategies tailored to clients’ objectives and constraints.
- Continuously monitors the performance of investment portfolios and adjusting strategies as needed.
- Provides quality customer service and communicates with clients to provide updates on portfolio performance and addresses their concerns or questions.
- Stays informed about economic trends and global events that could impact investment decisions.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Completes annual E-Learning Plan and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training as assigned and keeps up-to-date knowledge of BSA as it relates to the job function.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelors in Finance, Business Administration or other related field required
- Masters preferred
- 5-7 years experience in Investment Management, Financial Planning or Brokerage that includes communicating complex and detailed information related to investment management process and portfolio construction required
- Direct experience managing and rebalancing individual portfolios through a multi-asset class investment strategy required
- Supervisory or team leadership experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to develop, expand, and close relationships with clients and external professionals (attorneys, financial advisors, accountants) to enhance business opportunities.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, listening, presentation).
- Demonstrate trust, investment, and trading knowledge of portfolio modeling, platforms, policies and procedures, state and federal laws/regulations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); Advent MOXY or AXYS; Thompson Reuters or Bloomberg.
- Demonstrate competence in all trading requirements including portfolio modeling and order entry with the objective being to minimize trade errors.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Charted Financial Analyst (CFA) preferred
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP) preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Juris Doctor (JD) preferred
