Scrub Color: Hospital provided


Required Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certification of CSTFA (Certified First Assist)


Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at [Hospital Name] in Grand Rapids, MI. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring the operating room is prepared and sterile, and providing exceptional patient care throughout the surgical process.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment and instruments are sterilized and properly set up.
  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by passing instruments and supplies, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
  • Prepare patients for surgery by cleaning and disinfecting incision sites, positioning them on the operating table, and covering them with sterile drapes.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and alert the surgical team to any changes or concerns.
  • Handle specimens obtained during surgery according to established protocols.
  • Assist with the post-operative care of patients, including transferring them to recovery rooms and providing necessary support and monitoring.


Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of surgical procedures and operating room protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons and other members of the surgical team.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a sterile environment throughout surgical procedures.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in using surgical equipment and instruments.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for long periods and assist with lifting and positioning patients.
  • Commitment to upholding patient safety and providing compassionate care.
