Job Title: Java Developer - Regulatory Compliance

Location:

Job Overview: We are currently seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our dynamic technology team working on a critical regulatory project within the investment banking sector. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills in Java, a deep understanding of object-oriented design, and experience with the frameworks and technologies essential for modern, compliant financial applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java applications critical to the regulatory functions of investment banking.
  • Ensure the delivery of highly reliable, scalable, and performant code that complies with stringent regulatory standards.
  • Utilize Java frameworks such as DropWizard, Spring, and Hibernate to build robust backend services.
  • Work with web development frameworks (Angular or React) to create intuitive and compliant user interfaces.
  • Integrate with distributed storage systems (DB2, Oracle, Cassandra, MongoDB) ensuring data consistency and scalability.
  • Employ CI/CD pipelines using Git to streamline development and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement features that adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software, ensuring all systems are up to regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers and junior developers.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technology trends and best practices in the investment banking regulatory space.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of Java development, with a solid grasp of object-oriented design principles.
  • Demonstrable experience with Java frameworks such as DropWizard, Spring, and Hibernate.
  • Experience with front-end development frameworks like AngularJS or ReactJS is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of distributed storage systems including DB2, Oracle, Cassandra, and MongoDB.
  • Experience with Git and familiarity with CI/CD practices.
  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments is essential.
  • Familiarity with the investment banking domain, particularly with regulatory projects, is a plus.


It would be great if you also had:

  1. Detail-oriented, ability to turn deliverables around quickly with a high degree of accuracy
  2. Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret business requirements and produce functional and technical design documents.
  3. Good time management skills – Ability to prioritize and multi-task, handling multiple efforts at once.
  4. Strong desire to understand and learn domain.
  5. Experience in a financial services/banking industry
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; to be flexible and learn quickly.
  7. Ability to multi-task with attention to detail/ prioritize tasks.
