The Sr. Statistical Modeler is responsible for leading and conducting key analyses and statistical modeling that will yield demonstrable impact. This role will require collaboration with multiple departments and offer the opportunity to bring creativity to problem solving in the areas of credit risk, marketing, and operations.
- Salary: $175-$200k
Responsibilities:
- Utilize advanced mathematical, statistical, and analytical expertise to research, collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets from internal and external sources to provide insight and develop data driven solutions across the company
- Responsible for the development of advanced statistical models through all aspects of the model development and implementation lifecycle as well as ongoing monitoring and enhancement of the models for credit risk, marketing, and operations
- Present modeling and data analysis to management and other business partners
- Maintain and improve custom variables created from 3rd party data sources
- Continuously explore new 3rd party data sets for use in model development to improve model performance
- Maintain a high level of competency in current and emerging statistical techniques and champion modeling innovation
Required Qualifications:
- M.S. degree or higher in Statistics, Math, or equivalent quantitative field
- Extensive experience building predictive models (including linear and logistic regression, decision trees, random forest, and gradient boosting) in R, Python, or SAS
- Experience with various reject inference techniques
- 5-10 years of statistical modeling experience within the financial services industry
- Experience building custom variables using tradeline level data from credit bureau reports
- Proven ability to aggregate, extract, validate, and analyze large datasets using complex SQL queries
- Advanced level of MS Excel skills, including advanced formulas and data tables
- Highly motivated to work on multiple projects in parallel and team player with a startup spirit
- Very strong written and oral communication skills, with proven ability to translate complex modeling results and present to a non-technical audience
