Description:

You will build and lead an expert, diverse and efficient team of bench scientists, to execute on biologics discovery for our internal and partnered pipeline programs.

You will be responsible for hit discovery and optimization, including hit generation & screening platforms, biochemical and biophysical assays, to deliver the right data to advance early hits to development candidate nomination.


You will closely collaborate with the Head of Disease Biology and Pharmacology on target validation and program progression, and eventually with nonclinical development and CMC, to advance drug candidates towards IND, including early scale-up activities as required, in conjunction with CMC.


Your accountabilities will additionally include delivering high throughput assay and developability data to support Fable’s data strategy for machine learning, both in the context of pipeline projects and as a standalone activity.


As a member of the DDxR leadership team, you will contribute to strategic decisions on lab infrastructure, lab informatics and automation of data processes, and best practices collaboration with the ML leadership team. You will contribute to shaping our therapeutic pipeline based on your experience in drug discovery. Most importantly, you will directly contribute to our high performance culture by developing your talents and collaborating with your peers.


This is primarily an on-site working model, with 10-20% remote working possible. Flexible working hours to promote a balance between productivity and wellness can be accommodated with manager approval.


Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, manage and develop a team of biologics discovery scientists capable of delivering on multiple internal and partnered therapeutic programs
  • Devise target & indication specific hit discovery and optimization strategies, fit-for-purpose according to pipeline stage, and compatible with machine learning approaches
  • Deliver drug candidates of the required potency, specificity and biochemical activity using high-throughput screening and lab scale assays
  • Collaborate with the Head of Biology & Pharmacology on target validation, and to advance early hits through lead optimization
  • Provide Discovery Project Team leadership in addition to managerial duties
  • Partner with CMC as needed in an agile manner to accelerate our lead and development candidates to IND
  • Manage outsourcing activities to complement your team’s internal capabilities (with support from DDxR Operations Manager)
  • Contribute to overall DDxR strategy including automated lab infrastructure build up and therapeutic approaches
  • As a member of the DDxR leadership team, create engagement and a high performance culture of achievement in drug discovery


About You:

  • PhD/postdoc and 8+ years industry drug discovery experience OR MSc and 10+ years experience
  • Track record in biologics discovery and lead optimization
  • Track record in biochemical screening assay at various throughputs
  • Out-of-the-box thinker who can imagine and implement creative solutions for the use of ML in drug discovery
  • Experienced people manager with a desire to develop & grow talents
  • Clear communicator with excellent presentation skills
  • Focused on quantifiable results, data driven decisions, and flawless execution
