The Security Engineer will be responsible for multiple day-to-day security tasks, plus various information security projects, as part of supporting our Client's information security needs. This role plays a pivotal part in safeguarding information security needs through a combination of daily tasks and project-based endeavors.

Responsibilities:

  • Recommends strategies to prevent security exposures and prevent intrusions with guidance from the Director of Policy and Security, works with others to manage access control for non-Information Security projects, and analyzes the output of various security monitoring systems.
  • Day-to-day tasks include cyber incident response, evaluation and implementation of requests for firewall changes, monitoring of various security products and audit logs, and providing technical guidance regarding these products.
  • Provide ongoing support and advice to IT staff and end users on a variety of security issues, and ensuring that security policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Highly focused on the technical aspects of information security (not SoC analyst or a policy & governance specialist)
  • Evaluate, design, and deploy security solutions to meet requirements.
  • Conduct cyber incident response and implement firewall changes as needed.
  • Monitor various security products and audit logs for potential threats.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to IT staff and end users regarding security issues.
  • Ensure adherence to security policies and procedures.
  • Projects typically involve evaluating, designing, and deploying security solutions.
  • Typical projects include developing and implementing these solutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in Firewalls, access control systems, Intrusion Detection/Prevention, and Internet security.
  • Proficient in managing and configuring Fortinet FortiGate firewalls.
  • Some experience with Cisco ASA firewalls, in conjunction with Firepower services.
  • Network security and application security a plus.
  • Coding skills in C, Java, PERL, Python OR some Systems Administration experience is a plus
  • Must be able to work with and influence people at multiple levels - excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Security certification such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), SANS, or similar certification big plus.
