Job Title: Phlebotomist II

Location: (Arlington WA Training will be in Seattle at the James Tower location, if the candidate has to travel far the HM can make hotel accommodations for the training and meals and mileage would be reimbursed as well)

Duration: 6 Months+

Schedule: M-F 8-5

Pay Range : $22-$25 per hour


*Pay rate is based on years of experience and educational qualifications.


Position Overview:

The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing a variety of technical, non-technical, and clerical functions related to specimen collection and processing. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to laboratory protocols, with additional responsibilities as assigned.


Key Responsibilities:


Specimen Collection:


Perform venipuncture and capillary collections accurately and efficiently.

Conduct Legal Blood Alcohol collections following proper protocols.

Evaluate specimen acceptability and ensure correct identification throughout the process.

Obtain blood specimens from indwelling lines using universal safety precautions.

Specimen Processing:


Recognize and handle specimens according to verbal and written instructions.

Prioritize and respond to blood draw requests promptly.

Label samples and process them with extreme care.

Prepare specimens for transport to alternate testing laboratories.

Laboratory Operations:


Perform limited CLIA-waived testing and utilize laboratory information systems and electronic medical records effectively.

Handle entry and release of laboratory orders, following site-specific EPIC procedures.

Resolve sample ID and order issues and contact patients for repeat draws as needed.

Additional Duties:


Perform EKGs, monitoring events, drug screen collection, breath alcohol testing, and spirometry as required.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, stock supplies, and monitor expiration dates.

Assist in training new employees and students in phlebotomy techniques.

Complete maintenance and scheduled checklist duties accurately and on time.

Required Skills:


In-patient experience and high-volume blood draw expertise.

ASCP certification preferred.

Proficiency in phlebotomy, specimen collection, and processing.

Experience with EPIC and laboratory information systems.

Strong organizational and clerical skills.

Education and Certifications:


High School diploma or equivalent required.

Graduate of an approved phlebotomy training program or accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.

Certifications: Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, and/or Phlebotomy Training preferred.
