Our client is looking for an innovative and motivated Mainframe Application Developer to join our IT Accounting Applications support team on a contract basis. This role is based in their midtown Atlanta office, where you will be involved in several key projects within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. We're seeking a candidate who is adaptable and capable of shifting focus quickly to meet project demands. The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver with expertise in COBOL and CICS, and a deep commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the IT team to support and enhance mainframe applications.
  • Analyze problems independently, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Engage with users to gather requirements and ensure that the applications meet their needs.
  • Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), with Agile experience being a plus.
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in application development and support, with at least 7+ years specializing in COBOL, DB2, JCL, and CICS within a Mainframe environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to independently diagnose and resolve issues.
  • A proactive attitude, responsible work ethic, strong testing skills, and a commitment to teamwork and customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to share knowledge and technical expertise effectively.

Additional Skills a Plus (not required):

  • Experience with IDMS/IDMS-DC, ISPW, TSO, PL/I, and/or ADSO.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
