The Role

The Director of Quality will provide leadership and strategy for the entire North American Quality organization. They will develop and execute a long-term, progressive strategy to ensure the Quality function becomes increasingly proactive in addressing any and all performance issues. The Director will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Quality standards and systems that comply with customer and industry requirements.


As a key leader in the organization, the Director of Quality will collaborate closely across multiple business functions and provide strategic leadership to instill quality across the enterprise.


Our NA operations are headquartered in Novi, MI, but we are open to remote candidates if willing to do some travel to our North American locations. These locations include Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama, and Mexico.


As a Director of Quality, you can expect to:

  • Develop and implement quality policies, procedures, and objectives to ensure goals are achieved
  • Develop and implement quality standards to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements
  • Lead and actively participate in the development and execution of the quality department strategic plan (short- and long-term) and global collaboration
  • Lead and manage the regional Quality team, including Plant Quality Managers, Quality Engineers, etc.
  • Stay directly involved with internal manufacturing plant quality performance and processes
  • Promote a culture focused on actionable ways to identify and reduce cost of poor quality through continuous improvement
  • Be responsible for the coordination and reporting of quality metrics to the organization that indicate customer satisfaction and effectiveness of quality management systems
  • Work with regional leadership to ensure the necessary level of resources are available to support the work load and have proper training and skill sets required for success
  • Utilize statistical analysis to identify opportunities for improvement in processes
  • Ensure that all plant quality systems are aligned toward achieving overall strategic goals
  • Analyze and report on quality metrics, trends, and performance
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to standards
  • Monitor supplier performance and evaluate supplier auditing processes
  • Serve as a liaison between the organization and external parties
  • Develop and implement quality training programs


What we’re looking for:

  • A great start would be experience related to the duties and responsibilities listed above
  • Regional / multi-site Quality leadership experience
  • Automotive product launch experience
  • Knowledge of OEM quality and warranty policies
  • Quality system and internal auditing experience
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Testing and Validation
  • Knowledge of automotive quality standards; i.e. ISO, TS, QS, etc.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen
  • Statistical problem skills
  • Knowledge of Shainin Red-X, 8D, 5 Why, or related problem solving techniques
  • Direct OEM interface with SQA's


It would be a plus if you have:

  • A technical background and/or engineering degree
  • Experience with acoustic or interior products; i.e. carpet, headliners, trunk trim, insulators, parcel shelves, dash inners, load floors, or related soft trim/interior or acoustic products
