Job Summary and Qualifications

A Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy Technician acts as the outside attendant and control operator during clinical treatment using monoplace hyperbaric chambers. Under the direction of the Director of the Wound Healing Center, the charge nurse, and a hyperbaric physician, you are responsible for the diagnostic testing and direct care of patients of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Wound Healing Center. You are responsible and accountable for the planning, directing and provision of treatments in accordance with the physician’s orders, recognized hyperbaric oxygen therapy techniques, policies, procedures, established standards and administrative policies. Working with a relative degree of autonomy, you are responsible for following manufacturer’s recommendations and industry standards in the general upkeep of the hyperbaric chambers, including appropriate safety checks, cleaning, and ensuring the required preventive maintenance is completed in a timely manner.

  • You will demonstrate critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient.
  • You will complete the education and safety sheet with the patient and significant other, reviewing indications, risks and benefits of the treatment.
  • You will continually monitor the patients during treatment to ensure the proper delivery of oxygen and for symptoms of oxygen intolerance, claustrophobia, hypoglycemia, decompression sickness, gas embolism, or other untoward occurrence.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) or Hyperbaric Technician work experiencerequired.
  • BLS or ACLS certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
