Deputy Sheriff-PatrolPay Range: $34.40/hour - $43.08/hourFull-Time PositionPosition SummaryThe Deputy Sheriff Patrol performs general law enforcement patrol duties to include but not limited to: response to incidents, traffic control, routine patrol, investigation of crimes, and related activities. This is a generalist position that emphasizes the application of modern law enforcement methods and general law enforcement duties. This individual will exercise a good deal of discretion and independence while performing a variety of law enforcement duties and tasks.Job ResponsibilitiesMonitor activity within assigned patrol area, taking necessary enforcement or assistance action as appropriate to specific incidents that occur.Self-initiate appropriate activity when not involved with assigned tasks.Respond to and take appropriate action when given specific assignments.Properly document actions and follow applicable reporting and administrative requirements.Promptly and appropriately communicate information concerning activities and observations.Learn, develop, and appropriately apply general law enforcement skills.Job RequirementsMust be eligible for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board CertificationMinimum of 60 college credits in addition to high school diploma or equivalentU.S. Citizen; minimum age 20Valid driver's license with good driving recordAbility to possess a firearmNo felony convictions; no domestic abuse convictionsGood verbal and written skillsKnowledge and skills in operating computer systemsClear and concise speechAbility to perform essential job functions of this positionAbility to obtain and retain certification as a "law enforcement officer" by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board if not already certified.Full-time sworn deputies of the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office must reside within Ozaukee County or counties adjacent to Ozaukee County. These counties include Sheboygan, Washington, Milwaukee, and Waukesha. Must move within the boundary of Ozaukee County within six months of completing probation; probation is one year.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to possess a firearm, no felony convictions, no domestic abuse convictionsReact quickly and effectively to stressful situationsAbility to use all standard law enforcement equipmentAbility and willingness to assume responsibilityGeneral knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, methods, and practicesStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to plan, organize, prioritize, and follow through on an appropriate course of actionDemonstrate initiativeAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers, other law enforcement officials, and the publicAbility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.Working EnvironmentThe Deputy Sheriff Patrol works almost exclusively from a squad vehicle and is subject to all weather.
