JOB SUMMARY

As a Sr. Data Engineer, you will provide technical leadership to shape the Data Analytics Solutions utilized by our customers and drive the success of the development team. You will lead a team to ensure seamless experience for our clients by coordinating with development and product teams, organizing team meetings, maintaining team accountability and providing technical coaching on data products. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Leadership & Communication

  • Lead and inspire Data product teams that are responsible for the end-to-end product development lifecycle (PDLC). This includes strategy, architecture, delivery, and maintenance.
  • Reinforce a strong product culture by balancing the needs of product management, design, engineering, and architecture to optimize the PDLC, and learning by experimentation.
  • Partner with peer groups for coordinated delivery on cross-product, cross-team efforts
  • Identify and remove bottlenecks and team impediments.
  • Conduct reviews, provide career guidance and develop associates and teams through recruiting, training, and ongoing coaching.
  • Influence others and navigate sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Interact with internal and/or external leaders, including senior management.
  • Capture meaningful metrics to track team effectiveness and utilize them to maximize team improvement.
  • Assess employee skills and actively manage their skill and career progression
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision making, by working with stakeholders and product managers to refine product strategy feature effectiveness based on performance metrics.


Delivery and Execution

  • Partner with product management to establish and manage expectations around milestones and schedule, owning issues, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Support discovery activities for product teams — e.g., providing tools, clearing blockers, enabling validation with users, and securing funding for related work.
  • Drive the involvement of all team members in idea generation.
  • Ensure that the team builds the right thing that has measures to drive the value of the business.
  • Work with team to de-risk objectives, estimate and size work, establishes and maintains a burn up against milestones to hit high integrity commitments.
  • Optimizes production system operations using tools such as monitoring, capacity analysis and root cause analysis to identify and drive change that ensures continuous improvement in system stability, security, and performance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and root cause problem solving to identify and drive improvements in process and operations, by active maintenance of metrics, team retrospectives, change management, and encouraging risk taking.
  • Ensure Agile discipline around releasing “thin slices” based on rigorous prioritization as understood through discovery, owning phased roll out and validation plans.
  • Establish engineering best practices (i.e TDD, paired programming, clean code, etc) for teams, provides coaching, drive continuous improvement, and ensures that teams are delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Coordinate release, regression, deployments, operations and sprint planning and execution.
  • Establish a culture of devops, secops, and finops across their teams.


Architecture & Development

  • Provide architecture direction and guidance to the team as solutions are designed
  • Perform and complete complex engineering tasks in tandem with the team
  • Model code standards, testing standards and engineering processes for the team as its leader and fellow engineer


KNOWLEDGE & REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications

  • Be able to work well with people of various backgrounds and education levels and establish cooperative working relationships with all coworkers.
  • Timely and effectively communicate information to and consult with others in order to complete work assignments.
  • Act in a responsible, trustworthy and ethical manner that considers the impact and consequences of one’s actions or decisions.
  • Experience designing systems and solutions in AWS with technologies such as Amazon Redshift, Amazon Glue, PyApark, Python and Kafka
  • Experience designing, implementing and managing Data Warehouse systems.
  • Strong experience with Data Engineering, Modeling and Data Management technologies.
  • Communicate ideas, thoughts, and facts in writing through the use of proper grammar, spelling, document formatting and sentence structure.
  • Identify and respond to current and future clients’ needs; provide excellent client service.
  • Evaluate and analyze problems or tasks from multiple perspectives; adaptively employ problem solving methods to find creative or novel solutions; use logical, systematic and sequential processes to solve problems.
  • Effectively communicate with leadership in Product, Operations and Business Development to ensure work is aligned with KPIs and client expectations
  • Complete assigned job tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Carefully prepare for meetings and presentations; follow up with others to ensure that agreements, tasks or commitments have been fulfilled.
  • Demonstrate commitment to achieving Company’s core business objectives of increasing the role of pharmacy and improving patient health in America.
  • Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes.
  • Experience with mentoring and coaching developers/teams


Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working with healthcare technology.
  • Experience working with PHI data and HIPAA standards.
  • Experience working as a Technical Product Owner
  • Experience resolving issues that do not have clear answers.
  • Highly motivated and possessed excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and technical skills.
  • High sense of urgency and accountability
  • Adaptable, friendly, and ability to work with a team.
  • Passion for data and digging into the minutia of datasets.
  • Take calculated risks based on data-driven analytics
  • A self-starter and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment


Education & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum years of work experience: 8 years
  • 6+ years of Data Warehouse and Data Engineering experience required
  • Expert-level in Data Warehouse and pipelines technologies (Redshift, Glue, Kafka etc) .
  • Significant hands-on experience with custom software development strongly preferred.
  • 2+ year’s of experience as a tech lead, managing team performance, career and professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business processes, set product direction and oversee successful PDLC.
  • Minimum level of education or education/experience: Bachelors Degree
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
