Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated, professional candidate for its View Supervisor role. The successful candidate will join the Public Benefits Unit and the diverse department that envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all. The Department supports individuals and families in the community to live their best lives while advocating for those most vulnerable and respecting their right to self-determination.


Job Summary

This position is responsible for oversight of the Child Care Subsidy and Virginia Initiative for Education and Work (VIEW) Program. The Child Care Subsidy program promotes quality early childhood care and education to families with minor children that meet eligibility requirements. The VIEW Program provides employment, education, and training opportunities to assist individuals in attaining the goal of self-sufficiency.
Responsibilities include:

  • Management of community contracts and reviewing/authorizing payments for support services within program guidelines.
  • Direct, daily oversight of the team of Child Care Specialists and Career and Family Counselors to include ensuring staff meet policy and procedures as well as timeliness and accuracy standards.
  • Evaluation and reporting of performance data related to employment services.

The ideal candidate should have the following:
  • Extensive knowledge of complex federal, state, and local VIEW and Child Care policies.
  • High understanding of the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program and policy guidelines.
  • Exceptional supervisor skills and the ability to communicate complex policies to customers and staff.
  • Knowledge of research principles including analysis, interpretation, and use of statistics.
  • Ability to prepare reports and maintain records.
  • Ability to manage and maintain program budgets and approve and track purchase of service authorizations.
  • Ability to collaborate with other units and divisions within the department to ensure service delivery.
  • Ability to establish relationships with community partners to promote and support the Child Care and VIEW Program.
  • Grant/contract management experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor‘s degree required, with major coursework in a Human Services field preferred; AND, three (3) years of directly related experience in a human services area to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Preferred:
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Case management experience working with Child Care Subsidy and/or VIEW recipients.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Pass pre-employment background checks to include criminal, credit, and DMV.
Valid driver‘s license (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).

The successful candidate may be required to perform work that involves crisis situations and is required to make decisions involving people, resources, and property.
