We are looking to add another fulltime highly motivated Commercial Construction Estimator to our company for an immediate opening in the office located in Downtown Smyrna, GA.

 

Summary: The estimator position will be responsible for managing the design build construction estimating process. The applicant will have experience as a commercial construction estimator with knowledge of design build and ground up new commercial construction. 

 

The selected candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties:


  • Prepares estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work
  • Independently estimate Site, Interior and Structure Scopes of work with minimal direction
  • Working knowledge of various construction means and methods
  • Assist in the prequalification of subcontractors / vendors and management of the sub database
  • Reviews terms and conditions of subcontractor and vendor quotes
  • Serve as liaison with subcontractors and vendors during the bidding process
  • Organize estimates to meet construction Project Manager needs
  • Identify problem areas of a project and a plan to mitigate those risks
  • Work collaboratively with design team & project managers
  • Capable of managing multiple projects at a time
  • Take appropriate action as situations arise without waiting for direction.
  • Ability to analyze and respond to quotes & proposals
  • Reviews design options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
  • Reviews all pricing with the design team & project managers
  • Use previous projects historical data
  • Participates in project meetings in and outside office
  • Visits project sites to observe construction methods
  • Reviews quotes, drawings and attends pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
  • Thoroughly review subcontractors bids to make sure bids are not missing key items


Education, Knowledge And Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience estimating commercial construction projects to include commercial new/ground up construction
  • Must be experienced in quantity take-offs.
  • Must have the ability to read drawings and interpret specifications.
  • Prior experience with multiple bid styles (Lump Sum, Competitive Bid, Cost Plus and Negotiated) is desirable.
  • Computer skills suggested- Microsoft Project, Sage (Timberline) Estimating, REVIT, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
