Job Summary:

The Senior IT Project Manager will be responsible for identifying and managing the daily tasks and resources involved with the project. Work with the various team members to identify the scope for their discipline, document the strategy, develop the project plan, and manage to success. Develop reports and deliver weekly to project peers, and monthly to project stakeholders. Identify and manage risks, opportunities, threats, and manage accordingly. The Senior IT Project Manager should be a leader, self-sufficient, able to solve problems and work through challenges with other team members directly. The candidate should be skilled in agile, scrum, and other methodologies and be able to manage the different project disciplines accordingly. The Senior IT Project Manager shall manage project documents, artifacts, approvals, and change controls per PMO and management criteria. They shall also be able to manage multiple projects and disciplines concurrently, and be proactive when it comes to identifying tactics and strategies for project and client success.

 

This is a client facing role with significant time spent working with customer(s) and other team members, on-site time may amount to 50%, some project(s) may require travel. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, attention to detail, dedication, and coordination with peers. The candidate must have a strong awareness of client politics and dynamics, and be able to remain impartial and true to the project objective. Advanced user skills for MS Office and Project are essential, along with SharePoint and other collaboration platforms. The Senior IT Project Manager should possess an innate ability to describe a complex or technical statement using words and terms that someone not specialized in a specific field can understand; work with peers to develop solutions and react to issues as they arrive.

 

Hands-on IT technical skills or engineering experience preferred. The Senior IT Project Manager should have an awareness and appreciation of the tasks that team members need to complete. Such experience will allow the candidate to guide the conversations with team members, challenge assumptions, test hypotheses, and offer a basic level of consulting perspective. Specific IT experience that is preferred includes – Networks, Network Infrastructure, Desktops, Audio-Visual/Collaboration, Data Center Migrations.

 

The Senior IT Project Manager will work with, and report to, the Program Manager/Client Relationship Manager.

 

Typical Duties:

  • Manage multiple programs, projects, assignments and priorities simultaneously.
  • Establish clear expectations with project leadership, project teams and project stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain an accurate strategic plan or program/project roadmap that aligns to the business strategy.
  • Lead road mapping exercises.
  • Develop and maintain an accurate project plan that includes a work plan with all project activity, a resource plan and the project estimate (effort/duration/cost).
  • Monitor all program activity, projects, resources and costs to ensure the program remains on scope, on schedule, on budget and that no or minimal rework will be required and that the program continues to align with the business strategy.
  • Effectively communicate the program status, scope, scope changes, project plan, open items, issues and risks to the project team and project leadership.
  • Maintain accurate information in the standard project tracking tools and accurate project documentation.
  • Facilitate effective meetings by planning and being prepared.
  • Hold vendor accountable for SOW deliverables and budget estimates.

 

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in MIS, Computer Science related field or equivalent certifications is required.
  • Project Management (Required): 5+ years
  • Project Management Certified (Required): PMP, CSM, Six Sigma
  • IT Experience (Preferred): 10+ years
  • Professional Services (Preferred): 5+ years
  • Skills (Required, Expert Level): MS Office, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Technical Certifications (Preferred): CCNA/CCDP/CCIE/; VCP; MCSE; Azure/AWS/GCS; CRISC/CISM/CISSP/CompTIA Security+; RCDD; CDCDP/DCIS
