The Station Manager has a comprehensive role and will be an integral part of the ambulance management team. Responsibilities include providing leadership and structure to daily operations of Superior Ambulance Michigan division, maintaining 24/7 accountability to management, participating in required manager-on-duty rotation, daily deployment of assigned vehicles, collaborating with the fleet manager and controller to schedule maintenance, repair or replacement of ambulances, collaborating with the scheduling department and communication center personnel to maximize deployment of ambulances, reviewing daily scheduling of personnel, securing coverage for all unscheduled staff absences, assisting with ambulance staffing and deployment, publishing daily deployment and communicating deployment changes, maintaining clinical proficiency, participating in performance evaluation, participating in quality and safety management programs, ensuring availability of medical supplies, ensuring operation and availability of medical and administrative equipment, maintaining complete and accurate records, attending all required corporate and station training and meetings, facilitating and assisting in providing required corporate continuing education, promoting the concepts of shared governance and just culture, demonstrating the ability to function independently, demonstrating effective communication skills with all external and internal customers, representing Superior Ambulance in a professional manner, and scheduling will be pre-assigned for which station the manager will be helping 8 days before.Supervision is received from the regional manager and station manager.Qualifications required include current qualification as an emergency medical technician, paramedic, critical care paramedic or transport nurse. Desired qualifications include one (1) year experience on a BLS or higher ambulance and an associates degree. Expectations for further training include management education including human factors/crew resource management, stress and fatigue management, safety and risk management, and quality management. EMT's and paramedics are encouraged to further education e.g. paramedic class, CCP class.Physical requirements include successfully completing pre-employment testing including a complete physical and lifting agility examination, being able to work in confined space in a stressful environment while providing patient care, being able to occasionally work outdoors in inclement weather, being able to accommodate body positions and movements such as sitting, standing, twisting, crouching, bending, walking, climbing in and out of ambulance, climbing stairs, turning head and torso, bending at the arms, knees, wrists and fingers, maintaining good physical stamina, endurance, and body condition which would not be adversely affected by lifting, carrying, and balancing a combined weight of moving device, patient and equipment up to 275 pounds (shared weight), occasionally lifting a combined weight of moving device, patient and equipment up to 137.5 pounds (6"-30" ht.), carrying a combined weight of moving device, patient and equipment up to 160 pounds (shared weight) up and down a minimum of six (3) stairs via stair chair and in and out of the ambulance, performing bed to cot transfers with one hundred (100) pounds push/pull force (30" ht.), having full use of eyes, ears and full power of speech, and being able to handle stresses related to patient care in transport, without compromising personal or overall transport safety.All staff members are encouraged to make lifestyle choices that promote healthy living as it relates to job performance.
