Our client is seeking a highly motivated Radio Frequency (RF) Microwave Design Engineer to join their dynamic team focused on designing, developing, and integrating advanced HF and microwave radar systems. In this role, the RF Microwave Design Engineer will engage in a variety of tasks, from system-level trade-offs to detailed component selection, contributing to innovative solutions to meet client needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Design, develop, and test RF and microwave systems architecture, components, circuits, and products, including antennas (reflector and array systems), frequency synthesizers, transmitters, and receivers.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, specification generation, interface definition, component selection, circuit simulation, schematic capture, and board layout.
  • Engage in simulation, testing, and troubleshooting of RF circuits and subsystems, developing comprehensive test plans and procedures for RF subsystems.
  • Conduct sub-system circuit design and participate in required design reviews to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Oversee the production of RF devices and components, ensuring adherence to design specifications throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Identify and resolve issues in radio frequency testing equipment or circuits, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Maintain knowledge of system architecture and specifications, optimizing and analyzing network performance as necessary.
  • Ensure that reliability requirements, including EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), safety, manufacturability, and thermal design aspects, are met in all designs.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related scientific or engineering field with 5+ years of relevant design experience in radar systems design, system realization, and field testing of HF and microwave radar systems, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant design experience.
  • Proven experience in wideband radar systems analysis and design, including signal and data processing, radar calibration, and testing.
  • Strong familiarity with RF component design, analysis, fabrication, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with RF laboratory equipment such as waveform generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers.
  • Experience in RF PCB design and digital receiver design, including direct detect (RF sampling) receiver architectures.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to complete assignments independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB for data analysis and simulation.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, sponsors, and other research sites.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time both domestic and international.
  • Candidates must be a United States Citizen.
  • Due to the nature of the work, an active Top-Secret clearance is required.
