Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator for a leading construction company specializing in residential and commercial projects. The Estimator will play a crucial role in evaluating project requirements, preparing cost estimates, and supporting our project management team to ensure successful project execution.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for lumber and construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Material Takeoffs: Perform material takeoffs and quantity surveying to determine the types and quantities of materials required for projects.
  • Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and availability of materials.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, track costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Risk Assessment: Assess and identify potential risks and challenges associated with the project scope and budget.
  • Proposal Preparation: Prepare comprehensive and competitive proposals for bids, including detailed cost breakdowns and project timelines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to clarify project requirements and address any discrepancies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, correspondence, and other project-related documents.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and construction techniques to provide up-to-date and relevant estimates.
  • Client Communication: Communicate with clients to review project requirements, address questions, and provide updates on cost estimates and budgets.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in estimating for lumber and construction projects, with a proven track record of successful project estimates.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Timberline) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and industry standards, with a focus on lumber and related products.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to evaluate complex project requirements and provide accurate cost estimates.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work and maintaining accurate records.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, vendors, and team members.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
