Aquatics LifeguardStarting Pay $15.00/hourThe candidates will demonstrate themselves to match the REACT (Respect Excellence Accountability Care Trust) culture within the City of Farmers Branch. The purpose of this position is to assist with the operation, safety, and maintenance of the outdoor (seasonal) aquatic facilities.Essential Job FunctionsSupervise and ensure the safety of pool guests through effective scanning.Supervise and ensure the safety of pool guests through effective scanning, assist with "Learn to Swim" lessons when necessary, maintain the cleanliness of the pool facility, and complete light janitorial work.Attend and participate in regular in-service training.Work with guests to achieve a positive pool experience.Requires regular attendance.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Education and ExperienceLevel of knowledge must have at least some high school experience. Must be at least 16 years of age. Possess knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check, drug and alcohol test.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesPosition requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of information. Customer service skills and the ability to interact with guests on a daily basis. Ability to perform duties after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation. The immediate supervisor may, at times, provide close and constant review. Use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization. Ability to remain attentive and alert during long periods of time. Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, writing, and math, including, but not limited to, the ability to compose complete sentences, understand common complex words and phrases, and perform basic math functions such as fractions, percentages, measurements, and ratios/proportions.Special RequirementsRequired to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Required to perform and pass swimming and lifeguarding abilities test. This position is classified as a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing during the course of employment.Licenses and CertificatesRequires valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification for the duration of employment. The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification is desired or willing to obtain within three (3) months of hire.Work EnvironmentPosition involves considerable outdoor exposure to extreme temperature changes and weather conditions. Involves occasional physical and mechanical hazards. Physical demands include but are not limited to frequent lifting of heavy objects up to 50 lbs., continuous physical exertion resulting fatigue of arms, back, legs, or sensory facilities, sufficient physical stamina to walk a majority of the workday, extensive bending, stooping, and climbing.
