About the role

The Technical Operations Manager will lead the development, implementation, and ongoing efforts related to technical issue management and optimization within the manufacturing facility. The role will be responsible for operational ownership of new product industrialization and on-site support of resolution of production challenges related to quality, yield, and process efficiency. They will be responsible to build technical competency and subject matter expertise within their team related to key manufacturing technologies within the scope of site manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage new product introduction and industrialization life cycle.

o Act as the main hub between R&D, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to manage the agile and effect launch of new products and formulations.

o Understand technical equipment and process capability to streamline bench to batch workflow.

o Coordinate and monitor scale up activities (i.e. production process instructions and standard times, order of addition, quality specification alignment, etc)

• Act as the primary owner of technical issue resolution (Z2 management and reduction).

o Centrally coordinate efforts between R&D, Production, and Quality to effectively address Right the First-Time failures.

o Utilize robust problem-solving techniques to drive root cause identification and resolution.

o Primary responsibility over issue management to drive down plant OTIF and Cost loss impact of Z2s.

• Develop and implement key process improvement projects to optimize manufacturing performance (i.e., Yield/Scrap Performance, Production Cycle times, Material flows, OEE).

• Support proactive measures to drive sustainable manufacturing performance (i.e., Specification Alignment, Material Substitutions, Pre-Manufacturing Trials, Proactive Product Reviews, Conditional Batch Usage, etc.).

• Partner with Site and Regional Capex engineering team to steer investment opportunities aligned with process capability and commercial growth opportunities.

• Operational management of product transfers (to/from Sturtevant, WI, 3rd party manufacturers, and affiliate sites).

Qualifications and skills

Education:

• BS/MS in Engineering, Business, Food Science.

• Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing certifications.

Analytical skills:

• Continuous improvement knowledge and education.

• Knowledge and proficiency of problem-solving toolkit.

• Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodology.

• Understanding of flavor and ingredient manufacturing processes and technologies.

• Knowledge of new product industrialization life cycle from R&D bench to batch.

• HACCP/food safety experience

• Experience in food, chemical, or pharmaceutical industry.

• Proficiency leading kaizen events, value stream mapping and utilizing lean problem-solving methods.

• Progressive experience in Change Management.

Compensation Data

The typical hiring range for this role is $89,176k to $134,984k annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
