Role Description

This is a full-time (but open to part-time for the right person), hybrid role for a Bookkeeper/Senior Accountant at Matador Gas & Power, Inc. The Bookkeeper/Senior Accountant will initially report to the CFO and will be responsible for executing a variety of accounting tasks. The role requires a high level of "debits and credits" understanding, extensive experience with QuickBooks Online ("QBO") and impeccable attention to detail.


Initial Responsibilities

  • Full ownership of accounts payable process for five to six companies including recording all invoices/credit card charges into QBO, paying all amounts owed via check/ACH/credit card, ensuring all checking accounts are adequately funded, preparing 1099s, etc.
  • Help roll out new invoice routing/approval/payment software.
  • Manage credit card platform.
  • Reconcile cash receipts daily (bank to QBO to ERP system); identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Reconcile bank, credit card and general ledger accounts monthly; identify and correct discrepancies.
  • File sales tax monthly.


Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Experience in bookkeeping, financial analysis, and reporting (10+ years of experience)
  • Highly proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to review own work and catch/fix errors
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA certification is a plus
  • Experience in the propane industry is a plus
