Senior Network Engineer

Location: Lexington, MA (100% on-site)

Duration: 12 – 24 months+

Clearance: Active clearance (secret/top secret, etc.) required

The ideal candidate for this role is a seasoned Senior Network Engineer with extensive experience in backend network infrastructure, possessing expertise in designing, maintaining, and architecting secured networks. They should demonstrate strong leadership skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to mentor team members effectively while ensuring compliance with STIG security controls and driving automation initiatives for network enhancement.

Job Description:

We are seeking a lead-level Senior Network Engineer to support two large enterprise networks within our lab, focusing on secured networks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network infrastructure, with expertise in designing, maintaining, and architecting secure networks. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust and fault-tolerant network infrastructure, ensuring compliance with STIG security controls, and implementing network automation solutions. Hands-on involvement is crucial, as this role involves working alongside the team to provide day-to-day guidance and mentoring. Experience with Juniper and Palo Alto networks, General Dynamics encryption (Gem one encryptors), network automation, and cloud network integration is required. Additionally, expert knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and BGP protocols, as well as Security+ certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months, is essential. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent technical experience and certifications are required.

Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and maintain a secure, robust, and fault-tolerant network infrastructure.

Monitor and update configurations to maintain compliance with STIG security controls.

Research, develop, and implement automation solutions to enhance network infrastructure.

Collaborate with the infrastructure team to integrate classified cloud services with existing networks.

Provide project support to internal teams requiring expertise in classified networks.

Provide day-to-day guidance, mentoring, and tasking to members of the network team.

Occasionally provide 1st tier support resolving Service Desk tickets and maintain security documentation and network diagrams.

Requirements:

Experience with Juniper network hardware and Palo Alto firewalls.

Experience with General Dynamics type 1 encryptors and GEMOne management software.

Experience with network automation, preferably with Ansible.

Experience with cloud network integration, preferably classified cloud.

Expert knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and BGP protocols.

Strong understanding of DoD networks and STIG security controls.

Security+ certification or ability to obtain it within 6 months.

Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and work independently or collaboratively.

Excellent customer service skills (verbal and written).

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent technical experience and certifications.

Preferred:

Experience with the Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) process and maintaining an inspection-ready environment.

Please note that this position requires 100% onsite work with limited remote flexibility on a case-by-case basis. Candidates must have an active clearance due to the nature of the work being done.
